ADVENTURES, WORKSHOPS & INSPIRATIONAL TALKS
My very dear friend Neale James once said to me, “Giles, I’m not interested in what you don’t want to do, tell me about what you do want to do”, and so it has become a welcome reminder and positive driver for me to well, just get on with it.
So in the spirit of “what do I want to do” here is an introduction, a teaser if you like for what’s coming soon in the months ahead. As well as having a great passion and talent for making photographic pictures and stories I love sharing my knowledge and experience with others. I like to think of myself as a gentle focus-point to help others discover and develop their own individual photographic passion and voice.
I’m in the planning stages of building my new darkroom and studio which will be the focus point for a series of photo adventures and workshops I’ll be offering in the New Year. In addition to these I’ll also be introducing a new series of talks and lectures with photography as the central guiding narative.
Analog Photography & Darkroom Adventures
I’m proposing a two day non residential analog adventure to introduce guests to the joys and mindful delights of photographing a short story with 35mm film (using a Leica M rangefinder camera). As well as making a short story in Oxford, one of the really beautiful cities of he world, we will be spending the second day in the darkroom, processing the film and making silver gelatin photographic prints.
