Home Town Stories

Home Town Stories is an eclectic series of personal documentary photo stories inspired by the people, culture and landscape of my home town of Newbury in Berkshire UK.

The boundaries of my ‘home town’, as I see and experience them bear little resemblance to any official map or designation, they are instead more open to my own personal interpretation and heart felt feeling of what is local and home to me.

These stories are in every regard a celebration of this tiny jewell in the crown of England and all the wonderfully varied and different people who live within its boundaries. My desire and intention is to be an inquisitive and respectful observer, to ask questions, dig deeper and to walk gently. I’m not a campaigner and certainly have no interest in pursuing lost causes or attempting to be the purveyor of truth and justice. My interest and passion lies in the ordinary and very day, that which is common place, just delighting in the quotidian.

I'm excited to find out more about that which at present I have no knowledge of and through a calm process of discovery, make photo stories which make my photographic heart and soul sing.

What you see now is a start point to this wonderful adventure, there are many old and new stories to come.

Fair Light & Full Frames

Fair Light & Full Frames is an eclectic collection of documentary photo stories that I have made over the last thirty five years as a professional photographer.

These stories and photographs are here to remind me of the extraordinary people it has been my privilege to meet and photograph. They have in so many ways shaped and guided me into the photographer and person I am now and for that I owe a huge debt of gratitude.

I passionately believe that these photo adventures were but a prelude and a preparation for the photographic work I’m able to make now, Home Town Stories is the true purpose and passion of my photographic life.

I sincerely hope you enjoy my work.

Wishing you fair light and full frames
